OUTSIDE DIRECTORS:
- Gert Caspritz, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board and partner with Neomed Management Limited since 2008. From 1999 to 2008 he was an Investment Manager and General Partner at TVM Capital’s life science practice in Boston. During his tenure at TVM Capital Gert was a board member of several life science companies. Prior to that he worked for 18 years at Hoechsst AG and its various affiliates (now known as Sanofi-Aventis). His final position at Hoechst was Vice President of New Technologies Licensing in the Global Business Development Group, where he also oversaw investments in various life science venture capital funds. During his tenure at Hoechst he also served two years as the Assistant to the Head of Worldwide Research with broad responsibilities for budget, personnel, and investments. Gert received a Ph.D. in biology from the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany in 1981.
- Carl Christian Gilhuus-Moe, Ph.D., Director and officer of NeoMed Management Limited from 1998 and a partner from 2000. From 1986 to 1997 he was President and CEO of Dynal AS, a Norwegian based biotechnology firm. Prior to this he spent 15 years with Hafslund Nycomed AS, a multinational pharmaceutical company. He has been a Board member of SINTEF-UNIMED, the medical section of the Norwegian Institute of Technology since 1991. Dr. Gilhuus-Moe received a cand. real degree (equivalent to a Ph.D. degree) in biochemistry from the University of Oslo in 1970. He has been trained in business management at the Swedish Institute of Management (IFL) in 1982 and in management of R&D driven companies at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990.
- Mark Kroll, Ph.D. has 30 years experience in cardiovascular devices and instrumentation, holding positions of Vice President and Sr. Vice president, St. Jude Medical, Cardiac Rhythm Management Division (1995 - 2005), Vice President, Research at Angeion Corporation (1991-1995), Vice President of R&D at Vital Heart Systems (1985-1991), and Vice President R&D at Intercomp Company (1978-1985). He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota (1987). Dr. Kroll also received an MBA from the University of St. Thomas (1990). Dr. Kroll holds more than 260 U.S. issued and pending U.S. patents primarily for novel cardiovascular devices. He has published extensively in electrocardiology and cardiovascular device technologies.
- Marshall S. Stanton, M.D. Vice President, Medtronic, Inc. Dr. Stanton has ten years of experience at Medtronic with responsibility for multiple functions including clinical, reimbursement, patents, research, and development, as well as international experience with P/L responsibility. Before joining Medtronic in 1998, Dr. Stanton was Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Cardiovascular Training Program at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota where he had been on-staff since 1989. Dr. Stanton served as a member of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee. He is co-author of the Dictionary of Cardiac Pacing, Electrophysiology and Arrhythmias; has written and published numerous articles and book chapters on cardiology and electrophysiology and has lectured extensively on the same subjects both nationally and internationally.
- John Erb, Chief Executive Officer of Harbinger Medical, Inc. John Erb has over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry. Mr. Erb has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Cardia Access, Inc., a medical device company focused on novel technologies for pacing the heart. In 2007 Mr. Erb was Executive Chairman of the Board for CHF Solutions, Inc., a medical device company involved in the treatment of congestive heart failure. From 2001 through 2006, Mr. Erb was Chief Executive Officer of CHF Solutions. From 1997 through 2001, Mr. Erb was President and Chief Executive Officer of IntraTherapeutics, Inc., a medical device company involved in the development, manufacturing and distribution of peripheral vascular stents. Previously, Mr. Erb was Vice President of Operations for Schneider Worldwide, a division of Pfizer, Inc. Mr. Erb spent 10 years with Johnson & Johnson’s Iolab Division and started his career with American Hospital Supply Corporation. Mr. Erb serves on the board of directors of four medical device companies, two public companies and two private companies. Mr. Erb has a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton.
- Jim Knoblach, Director, first became involved in the medical products industry as an investor and manager at MediSense in 1983. Mr. Knoblach is an experienced entrepreneur and angel investor, having owned and managed numerous businesses over the past 25 years. He also served as a State Representative in the Minnesota Legislature, where he was Assistant Majority Leader and chaired the House Committee on Ways and Means. Mr. Knoblach holds a BS from Saint John's University in Economics and Business Administration (1979) and an MBA from Harvard (1981). He is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
