MEDICAL ADVISORY BOARD:

Harbinger has assembled a Medical Advisory Board consisting of leaders in the medical practice and the science of electrophysiology. Their knowledge and experience has helped guide the first product to success, and will help assess future enhancements as well as new technologies. These advisors and investigators are:

  • Peter Brady, MD, FRCP, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN obtained his MD at the University of Liverpool in Liverpool, England. He did his residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine where he had fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases and Electrophysiology and Pacing, and where he is now Assistant Professor of Medicine. He has published extensively on the subjects of catheter ablation cardiac arrhythmias, risk stratification and sudden death, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.

  • Jan Amlie MD, PhD, National Hospital, Oslo, Norway is Past President of the Cardiology Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists, where he was responsible for the harmonization of education and postgraduate training in cardiology in Europe. He also works in the Medical Outpatient Department at the Rikshospital. Prior to joining the hospital staff, he served at the University Clinic of Ørebro. Dr Amlie has written more than 120 scientific papers and one book, and has received a Gold Stethoscope award from the Norwegian Society of Cardiology for his work. He received his medical degree from Oslo University in 1965.

  • Paul Erne MD, PhD, Cantonsspital Luzern, Switzerland, is a senior electrophysiologist with an extensive research background including development of SAECG algorithms. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 abstracts and articles on various topics in cardiology.

  • Marek Malik MD, PhD, St. George’s Hospital, London, England obtained a PhD degree in mathematics and computer science and an MD degree in internal medicine and cardiology. He started his career at Charles University in Prague where he held a chair in applied computer science while also being a Consultant at the Department of Medicine of the University Hospital. Subsequently, he moved to London where he joined St George's Hospital Medical School. He is presently Professor of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of London, Head of Non-Invasive Electrophysiology unit at St. George's, and Chairman of St Paul's Cardiac Electrophysiology in London. Dr Malik is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, and Heart Rhythm Society. In his field, he authored 11 monographs and textbooks, and more than 350 articles in peer-review journals. He also served on a number of academic task forces including a co-chairmanship of the Independent Academic Task Force on Drug-Induced Torsade de Pointes and Implications for Drug Development.

  • Joerg Schwab MD, University of Bonn, Bonn, Germany studied at Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen, Uniklinik Giessen and Uniklinik Bonn. He is Head Doctor of the Heart Failure and ICD Department Intensive Care Unit, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and a Member of the German Society of Cardiology, The North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology, the European Heart Rhythm Association and European Society of Cardiology, and the Nucleus "Telemonitoring" of the German Society of Cardiology.

  • Pat Tchou MD, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, completed his undergraduate work at Harvard College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, which also awarded him a fellowship in cardiology. In addition, he was the recipient of a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and Pacing at Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He subsequently became an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Clinical Campus and director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at Sinai Samaritan. After leaving Wisconsin, Dr. Tchou became the Director Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Section at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and held an academic appointment at the University of Pittsburgh as Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Tchou was appointed to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1994 when he came to head the Section of Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. He is a staff cardiologist at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is the author or co-author of more than one hundred articles and over two hundred abstracts, and has produced numerous book chapters on various topics in cardiac electrophysiology such as ventricular tachycardia, implantable defibrillators, electrophysiology, and cardioversion.
