SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD:

Harbinger has a clinical advisory board with strong experience in clinical studies and publication of study results.

  • Peter Brady MD, FRCP, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN obtained his MD at the University of Liverpool in Liverpool, England. He did his residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine where he had fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases and Electrophysiology and Pacing, and where he is now Assistant Professor of Medicine. He has published extensively on the subjects of catheter ablation cardiac arrhythmias, risk stratification and sudden death, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.

  • Jan Amlie MD, PhD, National Hospital, Oslo, Norway is Past President of the Cardiology Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists, where he was responsible for the harmonization of education and postgraduate training in cardiology in Europe. He also works in the Medical Outpatient Department at the Rikshospital. Prior to joining the hospital staff, he served at the University Clinic of Ørebro. Dr Amlie has written more than 120 scientific papers and one book, and has received a Gold Stethoscope award from the Norwegian Society of Cardiology for his work. He received his medical degree from Oslo University in 1965.

  • Paul Erne MD, PhD Cantonsspital Luzern, Switzerland, is a senior electrophysiologist with an extensive research background including development of SAECG algorithms. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 abstracts and articles on various topics in cardiology.

  • Tom Mattioni, MD, Arizona Arrhythmia Consultants, Phoenix, Arizona received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and fellowships in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Northwestern University Medical School. Prior to arriving in Phoenix, Dr. Mattioni was director of the clinical cardiac electrophysiology laboratory and arrhythmia services and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Mattioni has been practicing clinical cardiac electrophysiology in Arizona since 1991. He also serves as director of the cardiac electrophysiology laboratory at the Arizona Heart Hospital. Dr. Mattioni is regarded as a leading authority in the research and practice of electrophysiology and has been the principal investigator in many research protocols investigating promising new devices and medications for arrhythmias.

  • Michael Orlov, MD, PhD, Caritas St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts, is the Director of Cardiac Arrhythmic Research and Caritas St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, and an Assistant Professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

  • Rainer Schimpf, MD, University of Mannheim, Mannheim, Germany, participates in leading edge research and has authored numerous publications.

  • Joerg Schwab MD, University of Bonn, Bonn, Germany studied at Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen, Uniklinik Giessen and Uniklinik Bonn. He is Head Doctor of the Heart Failure and ICD Department Intensive Care Unit, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and a Member of the German Society of Cardiology, The North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology, the European Heart Rhythm Association and European Society of Cardiology, and the Nucleus "Telemonitoring" of the German Society of Cardiology.

  • Jesus E. Val-Mejias MD, Galichia Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, has a diverse background in medical practice, research and teaching. Originally from Santiago, Chile, he has researched and published a number of articles and abstracts on the subjects of arrhythmias and electrophysiology. Dr. Val served seven years as an assistant professor of medicine at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. While there, he also was an attending physician at both the Veterans Administration Hospital and County Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a member of the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, and has been very active with the American Heart Association. Dr. Val has been recognized for his research capabilities and has performed a two-year study commissioned by the prestigious National institutes of Health. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, specializing in electrophysiology. He is the founder and medical director of the Electrophysiology Lab at Via Christi's St. Francis Campus.
